| Four college friends have into middle age and are rocked by the suicide of one of the friends. Cynthia Griffin (Stockard Channing) kills herself when her husband leaves her for a younger woman. The three remaining friends, Elise Elliott (Goldie Hawn), Brenda Cushman (Bette Midler), Annie Paradis (Diane Keaton), all from different walks of life, rekindled their bond at Griffin's funeral. Soon all three are too face divorce as their husband have taken up with younger women. They join together to get some revenge on their former husbands. In the hysterical process, they fight, grieve their marriages and finally start to heal - while using their collective skills to make their ex-husbands miserable. |
